Not likely. It is possible to change single genetic traits in experiemtnal animals and palnts, but wholesale modification to live in complelely alien environments isn' going to happen fo a very, very long time, if ever. We haven't even yet got gene therapy to work very well- changing a bad gene for a good gene- and changing a whole suite of genes is still not possible even in lab mice.
