You described it exactly. And TB isn't against "socialism" as long as it funnels money to the wealthy. He's happy to see people taxed and the money funnelled straight into drug companies, or the military-industrial people. In fact, capitalism has failed and socialism is bailing out the eager capitalists, who are lined up and beating away at the Treasury the way a calf pounds on it's mother's udder.
He despises socialism only for the benefits it might provide the poor because that might cost the wealthy.
And some people can never understand what I'm talking about. The black-and-white thinking, the either-or mentality which can only see either extreme is too entrenched . They can't see the world isn't black or white. It's a rainbow, and they are color-blind.
If a person suggests, for instance, that some military program be reduced, the answer is: So you want dictators to rule, for democracy to vanish, for our shores to be stormed! It's easy to know their response to every situation if one understands the ideology. And if they get puzzled one just has to wait until Rush has broadcast and the conservative blogs have picked up the talking points.
It's become obvious it's impossible to reason with someone with just an on-off switch.
I shouldn't post this, but will. It's true.
