Obama's going to issue a big executive order on Guantanamo soon after he takes office. Not to close it immediately, but, as this story puts it, to "start the process of deciding what to do with the estimated 250 al-Qaida and Taliban suspects and potential witnesses who are being held there."
In short, Obama is probably going to take Guantanamo through almost exactly the same difficult extended closure and prisoner handling process as Bush would have if he'd had a third term. In fact, that's going to be true of quite a few things from what I've seen so far.
I'm not sure the "wingnutz" are going to be the ones choking over the next couple of years.
