implementation of communism where we've certainly gotten a good taste of fascism. What came out of Russia was certainly not the ideology that Marx imagined. It may have begun that way but it quickly escalated into some perverse form of collectivism mixed with a huge dose of authoritarianism. In many ways Russia's grand "experiment" was very much like fascism.
It's a shame because there are actually good intentions behind the communist ideology although it certainly could never fit human society. Fascism on the other hand makes no bones about the power of the corporations and encouraging the huge disparity between the classes. There's some real inherent evil in that philosophy if one is part of the "haves". It assumes a depressed and subservient working class.
You're right that there's little difference between what history has shown us with each model but one must understand the fundamental fact that there's at least a heart behind the tenets of socialism. Although it can never work as the lone philosophy because it stifles innovation, it also wants to ensure nobody gets left behind. That portion of it requires a humility and sense of community. Traditional conservatives all had that same sense of community as well and I yearn for that segment to become empowered again.
You strike me as more that a traditional conservative that can get outraged at abuses of either side. I welcome that in our political discussion. It balances the left in proportion and brings us to the middle unlike the segment that took over your party and wanted it all.
