The Jews rose up against the Roman empire, fomenting a rebellion among other regional factions. Basically, they started it. And I read somewhere that the Romans killed upwards of 3 million Jews in that ethnic conflict. The collapse of the Roman empire probably would have happened anyway, despite the Jewish uprising.
