Interesting case of blaming Jews for the plague, or "black death"

When the plague, or black death, decimated Europe in the mid 14th century, and in lesser outbreaks in the centuries afterwards, Jews were widely blamed for the mysterious and terrifying disease. Having strict dietary rules and as a consequence living and eating in more isolated and sanitary conditions, Jews died in fewer numbers, proportionally, during the plague, and for that reason they were widely suspected as being in league with the Devil (sounds logical, from a 14th century way of thinking...). Massacres and expulsions followed, and also a general migration of Jews from Western Europe to Eastern Europe.
