The Obama administration is admittedly left of center, but it is closer to the center than the Bush or Reagan administrations were. These are judgement calls, and I have a feeling there is no way I can convince you of this, so just take it as a diagnostic on where my own thinking is on the spectrum. I reject the nationalization of industries, except when supported by legislation in time of national emergency, but socialization of health care is not leftist, it is only civilized. It is shameful and disgraceful that this country doesn't have it yet. Does that answer your question?
So far, the only thing that it has been rumored Obama might try (although he hasn't actually done it) that I might consider "too leftist" is using an ex post facto law to rescind the bonuses of financial executives that were negotiated prior to the bailouts. Still, that is not necessarily leftist, it's just bad law. Bills of attainder existed, and were rejected constitutionally, prior to the existence of the left.
Now let me throw the question back at you. Is there anything that the Bush administration did, or that conservatives currently favor, that you consider too far right?
