...socialization of health care is not leftist, it is only civilized.
Not that long ago, this would not have been considered axiomatic.
At some point, the nationalization of the energy industry, or any other industry that provides something seen as a critical human need, will also become "civilized." It already is in many other nations. 27 of the top fifty world oil companies are majority state-owned.
And when that time comes, will you think so, too?
Obama's political and philosophical background speaks for itself, and just because the media refused to go within a mile of it during the election doesn't change that.
Is there anything that the Bush administration did, or that conservatives currently favor, that you consider too far right?
Bush was more to the left than I am, having done a lot of things during his administration I didn't approve of. I've listed them often enough that I shouldn't have to repeat it again.
Not sure where you want me to go with this. I consider myself a political and economic conservative, but unlike many conservatives, I don't think the roots of the philosophy depend on religion.
I do not believe abortion should be a Federal issue in the first place, and I certainly don't think it should be a subject of a Constitutional amendment.
I don't support the War On Some Drugs.
I believe in minimal government, not no government.
