A significant contribution to the Republican base comes from the Palin, NASCAR, gun-lovin' white trash who get energized on issues such as gay rights and immigration matters.
The Republican party can "come back", but it will have to broaden it's base, maybe scoop up Roman Catholic officialdom's endorsement on the issue of abortion and include free subscriptions to "Soldier of Fortune" and complimentary membership in the NRA with party registration.
With a motto of "The Enemy of My Enemy is My Best Friend Forever" (TEOMEIMBFF, pronounced "teambiff"), an employment program based upon wars with Iran and Venezuela (with a recruiting office in Mexico City), and a concurrent reminder that "Thou Shalt Not Kill" is Biblical glue which should bond all right-thinking Christian Americans together to make sure every fornicator, their offspring and society pay the price for unprotected, illicit, non-sanctioned, out-of-wedlock wild monkey sex, maybe they could find another Darth Muppet like Reagan and enjoy a revival.
If the stakes weren't so high I'd consider paying to see it. Come to think of it, if we did see it everyone would pay.
