" “The dogs don’t like it,” replies the manager.
At its best, the space colonization vision was sophisticated daydreaming, not a future that a large number of Americans wanted to make happen. The vision had its shot and never caught on, despite appearing in the pages of a highly reputable magazine and gaining the attention of political decision makers. Gravity, weightlessness, radiation, and economics may all have ultimately made this vision untenable, but its biggest problem was that people didn’t like it."

Ok, why don't the dogs like it?
My wild guess is they don't like socialism.
Nobody like it, but propagandists it pays and idiot liberals.
So, perhaps that is what in the dog food that makes it uneatable.
Granted they might dislike some mega corporation running the show
also- but there really isn't much different between a mega corporation
and socialism, other than hype.
In other words they don't want any kind of huge faceless bureaucracy
in charge of everything. Who would?
Let's say I am wrong. What else could it be?
[But just for the record, if somehow socialism or single Mega corporation
runs the show in space [which in my view would never happen and is next to impossible] then count me as anti-space. But btw, if one actually feared this, one should worry about China going to the Moon.]
