["Its faltering because of attack politics, and a very faulty theoretical base which borders fantasy."
>So you are saying it's faltering because of the kinds of things you are engage in?
No. It is failing because of the Newt's attack on Clinton for Russian involovement in ISS, conducted by the Space Frontier Foundation, funded by Walt Anderson at som $10 million per year;
The promotion of unrealistic engineering schemes, such as Zubrin's Mars Direct and low cost launchers, mis-estimates of the types of launch services needed. ]
I can't say I am following what Newt says or doesn't say.
But I got a link to something that might connected with what you are talking about:

Actually, try a firm theoretical analysis of needs before action is taken and money spent on the development
of space resources.]
Well, I sure the Chinese are very bright. How much money are they spending in regarding mitigating against an impactor hitting Earth?
[">>I don't see the Chinese program as flourishing.
Look again."

Consider their satellites for all the different types of uses.
Consider the cost and efficiency of their launchers.]
Well, I already know that if one could buy Chinese launchers they apparently would be fairly cheap. But how many launcher per year are they launching and stuff like that might give some idea in regards to the state of their flourishing.
I could look it up I guess.
[>And I would say there is better than slow progress on the detection of NEOs.
The systems are still inadequte to the hazard. We know it has been about 3 to 10 times worse than NASA claaims.
The funding for those trying to define the hazard is inadequate.
I know this through personal contact with them.]
Yeah, well it probably would help if China had a couple telescopes looking. Or they launched something in space that did something useful in this regard. Maybe they could simply offer some free launches for this kind of thing, so some more progress in the area could be possible.
