re: Therefore I take it....

Not necessarily Republicans. There is nothing in the basic Republican program I, or any Democrat, opposes. What could be wrong with self-reliance, hard work, small government, personal responsibility, financial prudence, a strong defense and so on?

Neither are Republicans opposed to peace, a clean environment, dignity and fairness in the workplace, product and job safety and all the rest.

The conflict comes from what should and shouldn't be done to secure these goals and how they should be prioritized and there will be differences of opinion, even within each party.

People group into factions because they have similarities in interests, and it is only natural for people to act in their own self-interest. In America, these factions organize into groups of like-minded people, and they work together to support those interests. They also conflict with factions and organizations of people with competing interests.

In modern America, people are realizing that unless you organize, you are not going to get your voice heard or your agenda on the table. It has nothing to do with what's right or wrong, it's who wins. It's a struggle, an ugly process, and it isn't always fair, but it beats fighting in the streets. This is how democracy works, through politics, and it doesn't always yield the right solutions. And those groups with opposing interests are always going to be viewed and denounced as somehow...illegitimate, even dangerous.
