Now there's a science fiction story
Our artilect creations emerge from the Singularity, go off into the galaxy,
but keep Earth and humanity "preserved" both for the same reason we
keep animals in preserves.
We are told we are to stay on Earth for our own protection (the other
artliects from other parts of the galaxy could and have had creatures
like us for lunch who stepped into their territory), but also because the
artilects are trying very hard to keep the galaxy respectible and having
a bunch of noisy cockroaches crawling all over the furniture and soiling
it just will not do.
Plus the artilects from other worlds are tourists and like to visit Earth
to take pictures and buy souvenir junk made by the natives.
