Alliances are tricky, I have had mixed results. It seems to take a long time to get help from your allies and if you have counter alliances like the USSR on your border it can be devastating.
Air power seems sort of weak to me and I have never had air attacks turn the tide either way and Italy being of any major help to japan is surprising. I have never played as China.
I have played UU some but it doesn't appeal to me that much. There seems to be to many events and I usually pick the wrong choice.
I have conquered South America several times as Argentina. The key there is to take out Chile to get the resources and a couple of good cities, then go after Brazil once you take Brazil you can pick off the others without anyone seeming to notice much.
The only time I got beat was when I went up the east coast of SA and let Brazil declare on me. By that time Brazil had allied with UK and with in a 100 turns I had all kinds of UK allies kicking my butt.
The big countries like UK and USA are set to status quo and if they are not otherwise engaged they are likely to come after you if you get agressive in a way that they notice.
I have never played as Brazil.
The game will terminate at the end of the specified moves and declare a winner based on the win conditions you chose. You can continue to play if you wish but you can't Offically win.
I get a kick out of playing around with the editor and creating different situations and even new countries.
One of my uploaded scenarios is Viva California. It has a lot of western hemisphere action. You can download it and try it. Also try the WWI scenario Deadlock. It is a very well done scenario.
