Re: Re: Re: Re: trust me

the whole point of economics is "being in charge". are companies democracies? do workers vote for their managers? of course not. business is all about private control of community resources, that's why they call it management. the only thing that prevents it from being total gang warfare is law, democracy and the courts. now, businessmen will always claim that the market and competition prevent abuses, but in reality, they spend every waking moment trying to find some way to subvert them. and there is no god in heaven that says they can't.

do i have an alternative? no, and for sure, communism didn't work, but the very fact it was tried tells us how necessary some kind of relief was needed. so give us a break with the holier than thou attitude and the sad stories about how the poor businessmen are soooooo victimized. maybe we're stuck with you, but don't insult our intelligence while you're picking our pocket. the only way to keep these people under control (yes, these guys need to be managed) is with oversight, regulation, accountability and transparency. if you don't they will not only cheat, they will screw up.

I know the private sector doesn't like to hear that, and they'll fight it everywhere they can, even here on the zone. but just because we all agree the government shouldn' steal from the people doesn't mean the business community should.
