"Since 1998, temperatures have dipped, soared, fallen again and are now rising once more. Records kept by the British meteorological office and satellite data used by climate skeptics still show 1998 as the hottest year. However, data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA show 2005 has topped 1998. Published peer-reviewed scientific research generally cites temperatures measured by ground sensors, which are from NOAA, NASA and the British, more than the satellite data." (Quote from the article)
There are some links at the end of the article that might eventually lead you to the raw data, but I didn't follow up on them. I'll leave it to the professionals, there is a lot of interpretation and specialized knowledge involved, and I'm no climatologist.
However, I will stick my neck out and say that just the data referred to in the article by itself proves nothing, one way or the other. IMHO, the only question settled definitively here is not that global warming is real, its that the alleged cooling so smugly claimed by the deniers is bogus, at least as far as can be determined from the data in question.

- The question here is whether there's a cooling trend.
- Blind testing seems pretty clear to me
