Re: Re: We've been over this. At least three or four times.

Strawman, eh? You live in a demon-haunted world, one haunted by the spectre of communism...hmmm...that line's got a nice ring to it.

TB, everything you write here assumes this invisible empire of leering lefties toiling ceaselessly to plunder your loot. It permeates your thought, you can't get away from it, its what justifies your entire world view. Let me count the ways.

"The relatively new idea that the environment is going to be destroyed by human CO2 emissions (especially CAPITALIST ones)..."

"There is an enormous amount of GOVERNMENT POWER AND LOOT to be had with the AGW scenario."

"The AP WROTE THIS STORY precisely because the real world is not cooperating with the hysterical AGW predictions of the past few years, and the polls are showing a rising skepticism."

And that is just in ONE paranoid post. Everything you write here assumes this fifth column of collectivist goons working behind the scenes to plunder your loot. And if the polls are showing a rising skepticism, it is because of a relentless campaign in the right wing media, from right wing politicians, right wing think tanks, right wing pundits and industry associations, not to mention outright industry propagandists. And don't deny they exist, remember, I used to be one, I know how they work, and why, and I recognize them when I see them in action.

Of course, you don't ever seem to mention that it is the business sector that has the motive (profit), the means (a cosmologically extravagant advertising and political budget) and the opportunity (an age where public opinion can be molded with money, marketing and technology), to get their way. Not to mention they have the history, they have used this power to get their way since Year One, over and over again. Those with money have always abused it to secure their position. Do you expect us to believe the liberals invented that? Money is power, and money is freely spent to maintain the conditions that keep it flowing uninterruptedly.

No, I don't hate businessmen or want to replace them with bureaucrats, I just know that power and money make the world go round, whether it be in business, government, the military, the church, academia or in any institution man devises. You are the only one who seems to think evil resides in only one place and from one mind-set. As Lord Voldemort reminds us, "There is no Good or Evil, Harry, there is only Power."

As for your other posts, we've had to endure years of your dreary political spam on this forum, whether it was solicited or not, a good piece of it spelling out in lurid detail all about this vast self-perpetuating shadow non-conspiracy that permeates the whole society, yet when pressed on it you hide behind your magic meme that somehow it comes mysteriously out of nowhere, yet pollutes everything. You can't have it both ways. You can't expect us to believe that a spontaneous and undirected movement has arisen among the most articulate and educated in the society that has successfully threatened the hegemony of the ownership class, and that it has done so without any leadership or funding or ideological/philosophical program. Either it doesn't exist at all, or maybe it is right and true and historically inevitable. Take your pick.

What you can't tolerate is that your opponents are now perfecting your own methods: political activism, fund raising, theoretical and academic support, modern communications and developing a permanent sub-culture critical of yours. The audacity of these lefties; they are even buying commercial time on TV! The nerve! Of course, lefty is anyone who will not accept your program completely. It's your all-purpose argument closer, your one-size-fits-all slur, your opponents all want to loot and plunder, set up a government bureaucracy and world government to steal our (your) freedom, the freedom only you and your side respects and loves. Everybody knows liberals love high taxes, hate their country, are sex perverts, coddle criminals, and have no work ethic. They don't floss their teeth, either.

That's why you post constantly here, the same song and dance, so monotonously, to keep it in everyone's face continuously, so that it will gain legitimacy through sheer repetition. Well, it's also why I don't post here anymore. Now that subscription is in place, the site is closed to lurkers and drop-ins, I don't feel obligated to act as an antidote to your propaganda, your junk mail will not be distibuted for free by the Zone, people now have to sign up for it. Everyone on this site has either bought into your rubbish or they recoil instinctively from it. From now on, you're talking to yourself.

As for the iron heel of orthodoxy shutting out the voice of freedom, give me a break. The left didn't invent McCarthyism. How long do you think a union activist in a typical business can keep his job without government protection? Maybe a socialist can get a job in a university Economics department, but how far do you think he'll get in Business Administration, or on the coaching staff, or in ROTC? And remember, just because you call someone a Marxist doesn't mean he is one. I might think he's a moderate, someone else might consider him way too far right. It's a spectrum, remember? You don't get to pick where the middle is, it's negotiable.

I know I am a good person, and a smart one, too. I don't need to justify my actions or beliefs to anyone. I love my country and my fellow man, and my needs and wants are quite modest, too. I care what happens to others, even people I don't know, and do my best to live a decent life, and I really really really resent being lectured to and insulted by a self-proclaimed paragon of civic virtue and constitutional rectitude. I happen to identify with the mainstream, middle-of-the-road moderates I feel comfortable with and if they seem like they're too far left for your taste, maybe it's just because you're too far right. It could be just that simple.
