to be fair to Reagan
I'm reluctant to start a dogpile on Ronald Reagan, because part of what I'm trying to say is that he was actually a bit more reasonable and rational than his mythologists make him out to be. What they're doing to Reagan's memory, making him into the patron saint of extremism, reflects badly on them, not Reagan.
I didn't point out Reagan's restraint using military force to damn him. It damns his successors that they were a lot quicker on the draw while trying to wrap themselves in a thin veneer of "Reaganesque" to justify their wars.
