So you produce spaghetti code too, huh? Sometimes my comments are a stream-of-consciousness record of my thought processes as I developed something, with archeological layers of comments on top of comments. It's like I'm talking to myself(selves) across time.
I don't rigidly separate usage of the two kinds of comments, line and block. When I'm writing those epic rambling comments, I need to use block comment markers, or end up with "//" in the middle of lines everywhere as formatting changes. OTOH, if I only need to comment-out one line of code, I figure I may as well use a single-line comment.
