specious argument. if you die at 90 after a perfectly healthy life your family doesn't get a refund on your unused health insurance premiums, either. the whole point of social insurance of any kind is we all pay what we can afford so everyone enjoys protection from adversity, no one is overwhelmed and ruined through no fault of their own. you can always find someone who gets more than their fair share, or someone who doesn't get out everything he put in. the important thing is no one gets destroyed, and everyone has a safety net. you can argue about whether or not the system is administered fairly or soundly, but the concept is not a self-indulgence, it is part of what living in a civilized society is all about.
like i said, even people without kids should pay taxes to support schools. there is a price we must all pay for the protections and amenities of a civilized society, you pay for police and fire protection even if your house is not burgled or never catches fire. and you don't get a refund on your rent just because you leave town on vacation.
