Flame » in reply to A modest proposal

Re: Re: Re: Re: A modest proposal

I don't think I need to read eight pages of legalese to convince myself that the constitutional rights of Arizona business owners are being scrupulously observed. I'd be willing to take odds on that. In fact, I'd be willing to bet even Mexican-American businesses are treated very gingerly under the new law.

Besides, why so touchy, touchy, Tom? I've already gone on record in previous posts that I support the Arizona law. I'm on your side on this one, remember? I already think the police should have the right to stop people on the street and see ID, on demand; especially in time of war and terrorism such as we are in now. All I ask is that I be treated with a little courtesy.

Neither do I believe there is any constitutional right to privacy, although I certainly do believe in privacy as a fundamental human right, provided my activities do not affect others. Unfortunately, that is impossible to determine unless my privacy is first violated, isn't it?

I also believe in a national photo ID card, with a thumbprint on it. There certainly is no point in not having one, it is already impossible to engage in any kind of economic activity without first proving who you are to whatever merchant feels he has the right to review your financial history. The business world has already taken over my Social Security number, made me turn it over to them if I want to do just about anything, and then turned it into a commodity criminals can traffic in and use to steal from me. Weren't SS#s supposed to be between us and the SS Administration? I will draw the line at a bar code tattooed on may ass, though.

Touchy, touchy. Have I struck a raw nerve here? Or are we just witnessing a galvanic anti-liberal reflex spasm here?
