Racism is their entire reason for existing. With that hammer, everything is going to look like a racist nail.
The main focus of the Tea Party is on individual liberty and the size and power of government getting way out of control. The Left is extremely vulnerable in that discussion, and would greatly prefer to keep the focus on the red herring of "racism."
