Seriously ER

I am not laughing at the ideals expressed.

You have been around enough to know that these hand signals are silly. They are obviously meant to communicate with a speaker. We have to assume that the speaker can be heard.

Do you really think that all these signals will first,be remembered by the people involved and second, if they are will the signals be more effective than verbalizing if the audience is small? If the audience is large would a speaker be able to get any consensus from all those signals?

I have always failed to make basic Robert's rules understandable to relatively small groups of the motoring public. The result being mass confusion and everyone speaking out of turn. Do you really think it would be less confusing with the audience each using their favorite recalled hand signal.

It is funny not because of what they are trying to accomplish. It is funny because their method is silly and will not work in the way it is intended.

It might be fine in a room with a dozen close friends but not in a outdoor environment with a hundred or more protesters.

At least you should be willing to admit that natural expressions of mood would be more effective than these ridiculous hand signals.

Please don't say that it may be intended for a small group in a loud environment. If they can hear the speaker a small group could communicate verbally or more naturally.

Speak up, thumbs up or down, and the time honored throat slash have always worked fine.
