I don't disagree that it's the spending; however, taking away my Medicare before I'm even eligible for it, reducing Social Security benefits, etc., is not something I will ever agree to. I'm already hurting financially because I'm paying Cobra, every damn prescription I seem to get costs $60 a month (for my heart) and one costs me $60 twice a month, I'm spending all my time going to doctors, paying for a new furnace and a/c, etc. etc. I didn't plan for all this shit to happen when I first retired. I had no choice but to retire due to my health and everything has gone downhill since then. Now I'm looking at the possibility of reduced benefits. I may end up living out of my car. It seems to me that Republicans are very intent on reducing the deficit on the backs of those least able to afford it. I didn't create the fucking deficit, the Republicans did.
