The issue is not the few (very damn few I would bet) who may be abusing the system; the issue is the multitudes who are NOT. These people have no permanent jobs, no benefits. If you think they are not trying to find work, you are hopelessly naive. If a $25 an hour person takes a $7.25 job, most likely there are no benefits and he or she is working during the day when they could be out interviewing and doing job searching. Job searching can be exhausting. How long it must have been since you're done any of that. It took me a good bit of time when I was laid off once. I spent at least two-three hours a day clipping newspaper ads, writing letters that were specific to the job for which I was applying, changing my resume to reflect the search for the various different jobs, interviewing with employment agencies, taking tests for placement, etc., etc., etc. You can't do that shit and work an 8-hour shift at some food joint. Also, there are some employers who won't take you seriously if you take an "I'll take anything job" because they figure you aren't dedicated to what you are applying for. I've also been an employer so I know how both sides work.
