Re: net effect, nil

It's funny to see people holding the CBO up now. A few years back when I was using their numbers, they were "tools of the Bush Administration."

If these economic theories were true, the most economically successful nation in history would have been 1920 Germany.

You're believing the same crap you're being fed about where the rich are putting their money as Eri is. Do you know what stocks are? Municipal and industrial bonds? Treasury bills? Capital investment? Venture capital? What is all THAT money doing? And yeah, some is going overseas. Are all of your poor spenders buying ONLY things made and grown in the U.S.?

I'm sure a lot of corporations would LOVE it if the government borrowed or printed a few more trillions and passed them out to consumers. That's where the money's coming from now. Sure these businesses would get a chunk of that still-damp cash. You honestly think that represents real wealth? Real economic growth? Meanwhile, the government continues to destroy the dollar and go deeper in debt. SOMEBODY'S going to pay that bill. Guess what - it ain't going to be the poor.

As an engineer, I probably make a better economist than some of the academics who make it their profession. Academics believe that whatever everyone in the room can agree on to is true. This isn't the case in engineering.

"Consensus" is the worship word of the academic. There's no such thing as an engineering "consensus." If a roomful of engineers disagrees on a fundamental concept, somebody in the room is wrong. Results count, too. We can see that results mean very little to economists, or there wouldn't be any socialists left in the business.

Which brings to mind: How are those two years of unemployment benefits working to pep up the economy so far? I think I used the term "nil?"
