^Cost To Taxpayers Estimated Much Higher
The actual cost to taxpayers was much higher, but can't be readily calculated because much of the staff work in the House, Senate and White House was performed by permanent, salaried employees who would be paid regardless of their assignments.^
You forgot to include the costs of Kenneth Starr. Starr finally found out Bill had been diddling staff members and they impeached him for that? Idiocy. So the taxpayer footed $73M to show Bill was screwing around on Hilary? I would prefer my taxes go to something more responsible than witch hunts.
And while I'm at it... I'm betting they haven't learned a damned thing and Issa is the proof positive.
I think it's time the elected representatives did something other than play to their voters to get re-elected. If you think the Health Care Bill is going to get repealed, you're just chasing rainbows. I would assume the President would have to sign that and I can't see him doing it. It would take a 2/3 majority to override his veto plus the Senate is still a Dem majority, even if barely.
Come back to reality.
