Hey...can't say I'm really a Calvin and Hobbes fan, though I sometimes read it and find it amusing, so I'm not an unfan either. I like the genre of the skewed perception of which C&H is a member, and Non-Sequiters Danae's twisted intellectual journeys give me a stronger dose of it.
We swim in a sea of advertising, and understanding it's a matter of intellectual self-defense as far as I'm concerned. Biz spends billions each year trying to drill into our skulls, and that's one aspect of the modern world that I particularly loathe. If I could design an ideal world, it would include as a basic human right the right to be free of unwanted commercial messages. And to not have your personal information mined and then bought and sold.
