It's not the "sticking point," it's the meme that the Democrats and their NYT buttmonkeys are desperately trying to run with. It doesn't stand up.
Public unions are one of the main engines of the Democratic Party. They flood millions of dollars of our taxpayer money every year solely to the Democratic Party, and routinely flood the streets with election workers and protesters to ensure their gang remains in power. The worst abuses of private unions and government contracts in the old days are routine for public unions now.
That the teacher's union also controls how we educate our children is frightening. What results would they be looking for? Judging by the graphs I've shown, actual education doesn't seem to come very high on the priority list compared to flooding the education bureaucracy with money.
Governors across the country know that unfunded liabilities are killing them, and they know where these liabilities came from. Unfortunately for the Democrats, the source of these liabilities is also the jugular vein of the Democratic Party power structure.
The Democrats are going to go to the mattresses on this one, and the lies are coming thick and fast.
