I spent an entire thread explaining, with several separate examples, why higher taxes aren't going to fill the enormous gaps caused by bloated spending. I showed you the numbers, and did the math. I showed pictures.
And you still can't accept it.
This is where our money is going. Money paid out by the government because the recipients are poor, because they're old, or for some other "enlightened" reason.
Raw, socialist wealth redistribution. A hallmark of the Democratic ideology, represented by programs generated by Democrats to create reliable dependent Democratic voters.
$2.3 trillion in 2010. Your $42 billion in business tax breaks are lost in the noise. The entire net worth of the 400 richest Americans, accumulated over their whole lifetimes, is a trillion dollars less than what these payments amount to in that one single year. And the payments go on and on, year after year, getting larger each year.
To simplify that for you, if you were to completely liquidate the top 400 richest people in the United States, which would also involve liquidating large portions of their companies' stock in many cases, you would still have a trillion dollars of social spending to make up. For one year.
Trillions taken from those who produce real wealth and given to those who consume it. Good reasons, bad reasons, it doesn't matter. The real wealth is running out, and the takers are becoming more numerous. In a democracy, when the takers outnumber the producers, the result is collapse.
We're where we are because of people like you who thought it was the highest morality to loot the producers and pass the wealth to those you think deserved it more. Decade after decade, until we stand here with an annual deficit that is larger than the entire Federal budget was in 1980. This is "progressive" economics in action.
Look at the chart below. This is where the money is going, with that knee in the graph at the birth of LBJ's Great Society. You tell us how spending went up during Reagan and the rest, but you don't want us to know WHAT spending went up, do you?
The Democrats got us into this mess. And now Democrats are standing there with America's fiscal blood dripping off their hands, and bitching because the rest of us refuse to open any more veins for them.
