Re: Okay.

I've given long lists of spending cuts in the past. Let's begin with the concept that "slashing" is stupid. We need to take a surgical knife and cut away waste, not blindly cut across the board like Tera Party neophytes want. I'm sure we can find discretionary cuts in the tens of billions if not hundreds of billions. What would be STUPID would be to cut investments in education, infrastructure and research. China and India are propelling their societies by making investments in their future. The GOP wants to build a bridge back to the 19th Century by cutting these elements.

I've addressed SS. This is one of the two biggest problems and means testing for SS, along with raising the age limit to 67, problem solve.

I've addressed ways of reigning medicare by reigning in overall medical costs: A single payer system would eliminate hundreds of billions wasted on the insurance industry, and it would push down the vastly higher incomes of doctors in this country vs the ROTW. Those two things alone would likely save $1T in the overall medical aspect of the economy, a large part being government costs. Yeah no free ride blah blah blah. Taxes would go up to cover the single payer. Absurdly high insurance premiums would disappear, leaving a large net gain in disposable income for Americans.

Cut 1/3 of the nuclear triad defense, a relic of the cold war. Land based ICBM's an sub based ICBM's are more than enough nuclear deterrent. The SAC is the least effective part of the triad and we would save $100B/year nixing it. Bring home 90% of the troops in Europe, another $100B saved. End the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and save another $100B.

End all corporate welfare, at least another $125B/year. All that matched with dumping ALL of the Bush tax cuts and further raising taxes on the upper 2%, along with robust economic growth and there is the solution. Before you say it, the old tax rate we had the 90s didn't seem to stifle economic growth now did it?

I could go on but I actually have a job and have work to do.
