Doesn't the FBI vet Presidential candidates for their citizenship, criminal records, etc? And what about when he was a Senator? That is routine for everyone that handles classified material. Remember, even if some special exception is supposedly made for the President, all candidates are briefed on national security issues so they won't do or say something stupid while campaigning, so they all must be cleared, as soon as they officially declare themselves as candidates. In fact, that is one of the reasons there is a fixed date by which they have to "declare". It takes time and lots of paperwork to get a security clearance, I know, I used to have several, and they were interviewing my hometown friends.
Also, how do we know Obama never revealed his school records, etc. The only people making that claim are those who are trying to convince us he's not legit. Of course they are going to say that. This is all starting to sound like the "who killed JFK", or "Roswell UFO" stories. Rumors about rumors are being brought up as facts to justify still more rumors. And not one has made it past a judge.
I really don't think it is fair to blame Obama for not defending himself from unofficial charges brought on him by people who are out to discredit him. If some private citizen calls me a sex pervert, my refusing to dignify his charge (and bring more publicity) should not be considered either evidence of my crime or an indication of my obscuring evidence.
It's pretty clear now, when thoughtful Republicans are trying to distance themselves from this issue and debunking it, it is astonishing for Obama to be blamed for not defending himself effectively enough. Good grief, what does this guy have to do for you guys to cut him some slack?
