I'm a northern girl myself, spent half my life up in Canada.
(The press up there is still free, though the poor Canadians get dragged around by the US).

I can remember not being able to start my car one morning, even though it was in the garage and had the dipstick plugged in to keep the block warm. Hah! Still wouldn't start at 15` below.
No, I think I'll keep to Florida, although I do miss the seasons.
The hills of NC are starting to look better to me year after year.
Finally a cold snap moved in today........it's a chilly 58` right now!
And yeah, its been one LONG hot summer here with 90` days and 90% humidity.
Your sunglasses will melt in the car if it's out in the sun for a few hours.....

It helps if you're camped out under a palm tree near the ocean with a cold beer or a marguerita in your hand. A good Shiraz or a chilled martini with blue cheese olives would be nice too......
