I think we will wind this thing up in the next couple of weeks and securitywise what's left will not be any worse than Afghanistan. Still, I have no doubt there will be plenty of new things for folks to dispair about in coming months.

I do believe (hope) that we have just about put VN to rest. With GWI, Afghanistan and GWII behind us it will be very difficult to invoke the dreaded quagmire. None of our enemies are going to be sitting around the campfire swapping stories of us cutting out at the first sign of casualties.

The tough part is truly ahead. War is a fairly straightforward matter and we are quite good at it. The politics and power brokering of nation building is easy to screw up. Our record in places like Haiti (which should have been easy) is not outstanding.
