The most ironic part of my trip to Mexico City.

During the week, my daughter asked my about this guy named "Che", whose face she saw on t-shirts. I explained that he was one of the original communist founders of the Cuban Marxist Revolution, and was sent to South America by Castro to foster a revolution on a trip Castro knew would fail.
I told her that in my opinion he was a fool as well as a tyrant, but that his charisma made him dangerous to Fidel as well as to the freedom of many people. I told her how the CIA put a price on his head and got it, and paid in full.
I told her that she should definately have a t-shirt so she could tell just how stupid someone was very quickly by what their attitude was about Che.
On Friday afternoon, the coomies in Mexico City held a rally and march, several tens of thousands (small by Mexican standards) in favor of Fidel.
When the Chevistas marched by, shouting their "Cuba Si! Yanqui No!" chant, we were standing in front of our hotel enjoying the street theatre and I began to laugh out loud. When I walked started to walk to the Che brigade to offer to buy a flag with Che's face stencilled on it, my sweet family thought I was taking too much risk so I restrained myself. But when the commie-fools behind the Chevistas walked by handing out posters, I did manage to get some nice commie crap to hang on the wall.
So now my daughter has an indelible memory of Mexico, has seen the foolishness of leftist street demonstrations, and has a pracitical tool to see just how stupid some people really are.
The trip was so wonderful. Everyone should see large demonstrations. I have been fortunate enough to see (and survive) several in Mexico over the years.
