And what about the big number of various sects in the US?
Members must surrender their freedom in favor of the "collective good"; the Mormons have to surrender 10% of their income to the church.
There a various kinds of communities in the US where the rule is acting for the common or collective good. In Israel, the Kibbutz were a peaceful form of marxism community, where young people would go to, not to earn money but to join other youngsters from the world.
And I'm sure comparing the US freedom with its lack of it elsewhere isn't a good move as it either gives too much credit to the others or forces to redefine what freedom is all about. Like freedom can only be warranted if you have plenty of money, leading to greedyness.
We all live in communities of some sort and we therefore have to surrender our freedom one way or another.
