Bingo! She's the actual human being in the picture.
BUT AT LEAST THE KID IS NOT DEAD! Cripes, doesn't this count for ANYTHING?
A) It's only a kid in your opinion.
B) No.
Although the concept of abstinence causes feminists to have apoplexy, it works.
First of all, your subordinate clause is in error. The concept of abstinence causes men to have apoplexy.
Feminists think that women should have control of their own lives. If that means they have sex, then that's what it means. It doesn't mean they must have sex.
Second, since abstinence is the only 100% effective birth control method, why don't we just outlaw all those birth control methods that are not 100% effective? That would eliminate the need for abortion altogether. Even sterilization has a failure rate of 0.5%. That leaves, um, abstinence and menopause. I'm sure the men of the world would really appreciate that. Especially the married ones.
Third, a full grown chicken has a more highly-developed brain than a fetus in its first trimester.
This kind of comment is totally irrelevant, and sounds more like it came from the Radical Feminists Survival Kit instead of from you. If this was the way we thought, we could just kill severely retarded or senile people and save ourselves a lot of trouble. And a severely retarded person does not usually have the potential to become a fully functional human being like a fetus does.
It is so far from irrelevant that I'm saying it again. The entire argument is predicated on the belief that a fetus is a child. You say it is. I say it isn't. Your argument is based on sentiment and the shape of the fetus, not on its actual characteristics.
Furthermore, it isn't even capable of drawing a breath on its own for, what, five months? The mother's body chemistry has to labor mightily to keep her immune system from destroying the little biological parasite.
The severely retarded can draw breath. The senile were once fully funtional. The fetus can make neither of these claims, if it knew what a claim was, or what air is, or anything else.
A really nasty person would probably point out that the idea that the fetus was dumber than a chicken was probably not a lot of comfort after your miscarriage.
And since you pointed that out, that would make you a... what?
My misery had a lot to do with post-partum hormonal poisoning compounded by being treated like furniture. So it was all about me.
A newborn child is probably not as smart as a chicken either. . .
I can't believe you have two children and can have said that. Do not mistake equipment for skill. Babies are brilliant. They are also ignorant of the world and even of their own bodies. They learn every second they're awake, and when they're asleep, they're processing all that sensory input. Read a little Desmond Morris about infant development.
Incidentally, miscarriage is Mother Nature's little way of saying "Flush that sucker -- it's screwed up".
Have a nice day.
