Aw, Bowser...

<For instance, someone could say that communism is BAD, period. OR, they could realize that communism, for all it's faults, is a legitimate desire of a state to accommodate the basic needs of all it's citizens.

AND the way it's done may not be the best. And that's beside the point. In theory it is a legitimate attempt to see to the basic needs of all citizens. In the USSR, for instance, having a job, place to live and medical care was regarded as a civil right. Not bad, huh?

80 million murdered is quite a "fault." Might almost be a "slight flaw."

You can keep rationalizing these things, although it's starting to look a bit bizarre now. I suppose it's better than realizing you're on the same side as some of the worst monsters in human history. Stalin was just a big, mushy sweetie looking out for his citizens. So were Mao, Castro, Pol Pot, and the others. Sure.

I keep remembering that one hell of a lot more people died trying to leave Communist nations than trying to get into them. If all the goodies were so great, where were the refugees streaming in for the free housing and medical care? Where are the people floating boats from Mexico and other poor Latin nations into Cuba?
