Re: Re:Regulate

Health care problems seem to be worldwide. I don’t think any country has a great fix for it.

I really did hope that Clinton could have fixed it in 100 days like he promised, but it is too much of a monster.

Lets hope Bush has better luck. Getting rid of the crazy lawsuits should help.

Up in Canada and over your way hasn’t been much better. Socialized medicine, in theory, means everyone gets health care. In practice, it seems to mean long waits for care, and poor care. I work for a Canadian who has little good to say about Canada’s health care.

In America, if you have health care (I pay a pretty penny for mine) you get decent care. I can’t complain about mine, except all the errors in the bills that I have to fight the insurance company over.

If you don’t have insurance, you can still get care, but be prepared to wait.

This time last year, my newborn daughter had trouble breathing. We took her to the emergency room and had to wait 7 hours to be seen. The place was packed with people. I estimate 99% of them didn’t have insurance (I probed some of the employees for info while I was waiting) and were not there for an emergency. They were using the emergency room as a doctors office.

I don’t mind people getting free health care, but I do mind them tying up the emergency room with non-emergencies when my daughter has a real emergency. This has become a problem in Houston.

Maybe they could have 2 lines;

1. Those who are there with emergencies, Insurance or not. These folks get top priority.
and those without insurance with non-emergencies.
