Solution is Hydro & Wind

More than 60 percent of Canadians' electrical power currently comes from hydro. The remaining 64.75 gigawatts is from nuclear, coal & oil powerplants. Since Canada is the second-largest country in the world by land area there is plenty of room for wind farms. The data I presented came directly from a 600 kilowatt wind turbine erected near the Bruce Nuclear Plant in Southern Ontario. This system was built specially to survive the harsh Canadian winters, and has proven reliable and able to pay for itself in 8 years. In my opinion wind farms should supplement hydro and reduce our reliance on it - keep our reservoirs full in other words. You are correct that wind power is not very good if the wind doesn't blow, that is why the benefit of wind farms are realized on a cumulative basis. Wind power is inexhaustible and unfettered by market forces.
