Yes...I am...I will keep up to date on the story. If I am wrong I will post a retraction and apologize to this nameless teacher - if indeed his actions were protected by law.
However, the fact that a student 'turned him in' and the teacher said 'dont tell' - implies he knew he was doing something wrong - so did the kid.
Those little details I did not overlook.
I wouldn't want to be that teacher though at these times - but in Sacramento he will find many sympathetic flag burners to come and support him.
I know it seems intolerant. But when it comes to the educational process - if something is near sacred to me - that is it. The trust given to a teacher is staggering. To abuse it - as I have seen done so often - rankles me far more than any editorial writer or violent protests on the street.
