Don't forget Posse Comitatus
The Posse Comitatus Act heavily restricts the use of military personnel in civilian law enforcement. At one level, airport security comes close to law enforcement. If someone tries to violate security and gets arrested, could the military do it or would they need a civilian police officer for that? This is very close to opening a big can of worms.
