Words and language

<It is not holding a gun to your head to require you pay a share of providing for the health and welfare of your society. To not pay your fair share is try and hitch a free ride in society.

Yes. It IS holding a gun to your head to force "charity" from a person at the price of imprisonment or worse. And I'm going to keep harping on this until I get carpal tunnel syndrome. And to imply that not being robbed in this way to give others an unearned benefit is somehow a "free ride" on your fellow citizens, is such a massive distortion of the language that it ranks right up there with "freedom is slavery." If anyone is getting a "free ride" it's not the taxpayers.

Incidentally, anyone who uses the word "society" in a phrase to make it sound like it is an entity in itself should set off alarm bells in your brain.*

Who exactly is "society?" Apparently it doesn't include those people who, through their own struggles and efforts, have managed to provide their own health and welfare. Apparently it doesn't include those who pump out their lives and fortunes to benefit those who have contributed nothing. "Society," to the liberals, are the chosen constituency, the cannon fodder that keeps them in political power. Those "animals that are somehow more equal than others."

There is no such being as "society." In a free country, there are individuals, and groups of individuals who band together voluntarily for mutual benefit. When you hear someone talking about you sacrificing something for "society," you are hearing a looter.

*See also, "the people," "the masses," "the workers," "the Volk," "the collective," "the proletariat," and other choice terms the totalitarians use to help them pretend that they are destroying you for the greater good instead of just to gain raw power.
