Hi Buck,
To make an effective point sometimes one has to push farther - as it leaves a clearer impression when all is said and done. ;-)
Bush may be too hawkish - but the US has been put on notice that our cocoon is ruptured and porous. A little more than too little seems to be a rational approach to what has happened.
Think of this...
...less than a week ago Al Gore said:
We must go after Iraq or face "dire consequences".
Why do you think he said that? To support Bush? I think not! However, he has likely been briefed on just how far Iraq's nuclear weapon program is. Gore has kids - and I don't think he wants to see them fleeing fallout or turned to ashes. Anyone who knows how close some of these nations are to nuclear weapons knows that within a year, we may wake up to something 1000 times worse than 9-11. Something that makes 9-11 look like a traffic accident.
Israel may someday very soon be hit by a small tactical nuke, and the middle east may be green-hued glass before all is said and done.
The buffer zone "time period" when US technology was light years in advance of what third world countries could access - is now officially gone - in part due to the internet and in part due to the fall of the Soviet Union.
We knew this day was coming - and we knew that wars would be a likely result of the extreme fanatics who would get hold of these WOMD.
If there IS a time to be "too hawkish" - by god it's right now ;-)
Best wishes,
SDAI-Tech1
