1) The real conservatives were already voting for Simon. Who do you think Riordan's voting base is, anyway? The (I hate to keep waving this term in front of you. Sorry.) middle. And yes, a big hunk of California Republicans certainly reside there.
2) How does the middle feel about abortion?
