Re: Too simple, really

<The real conservatives were already voting for Simon. Who do you think Riordan's voting base is, anyway? The (I hate to keep waving this term in front of you. Sorry.) middle. And yes, a big hunk of California Republicans certainly reside there.

Okay, let me get this straight: all the REAL conservatives were going to vote for Simon all along, and Riordan's voting base was the middle. So, all these middle-roaders were convinced by Davis' anti-conservative tirades to vote for someone MORE conservative than Riordan? I'm not following your reasoning at all. Maybe all the moderate Republicans just decided to stay home that night.

How does the middle feel about abortion?

See for yourself. Check around for other polls if you want.

Anyway, in a gubernatorial election, who cares? Under current law, the governor of California has no more to say about abortion than the dogcatcher.

Anyone, on either side of the political spectrum, who picks their politicians solely on the basis of whether or not he supports fetus-killing, has something wrong with their mind in the first place. There are many more issues far more critical to the freedom of this nation, which is threatened by both outside and inside forces. Unfortunately, according to the poll article I cited above, over a third of the people surveyed seem to fall into this category.
