Re: Reliance On Labels

<...I believe the media is composed mostly of liberal arts majors who's touchy feely attitudes made it hard for them to get a job where facts tend to intrude on preconceived notions, but that sure didn't stop them for going for blood on Clinton & Condit. The reporting in those cases was probably more restrained than it would have been for Quayle or Gingrich in the same situation and I'm sure they tend to be harder on Republicans, but the idea that they are part of a liberal conspiracy to "hide the facts" from the american public is hogwash.

If you go over these statements of yours, I don't know what else needs to be said to be able to state that a media bias exists.

As I have said many times, there is no media "conspiracy." The media bias is the result of the collective leftist biases of individual media people. Conservatives in the media, while they exist, are few and far between, except maybe on Fox News.

You really missed the point about moderation. It's not about Republicans moving towards Democrats it's about both moving towards what the majority of American's want rather than their extremist core constituencies or having the guts to take a stand and convince the public that an unpopular stance is the correct one. McCain had the guts to stand up to some unsavory Republican constituants (Bob Jones U types) while Bush did not. That cost McCain greatly. It really sucks that our current system favors electing extremists or those unwilling to stand up to them.

Your definition of moderation is correct. What bugs me is that when you hear anyone demanding that a politician should "moderate" their views, nine times out of ten, it is a Republican being admonished to move leftward. How often have you heard a widespread call for a Democrat to move to the right? Has anyone in the mainstream media chewed out Daschle for his hard-assed obstructionism?

So when did you personally give up on the Contract with America's ideals of Fiscal responsibility and campaign finance reform? Or were those just a plot by liberals to undermine Republicans through that famous liberal Gingrich?

I don't quite get where you get the idea that I am against fiscal responsibility. And if you check out the Contract With America, specific references to campaign finance reform do not seem to be there. Most of the other ideas still seem to be damn good ones.
