Re: Where do I start?

<Now we have a dozen public access terminals with filters, 3 in the children’s library, and another 10 with no filters in a networked classroom that is kept locked except for tech classes, tours, supervised library activities for youth, and adults who request unfiltered access. It works very well.

See? Like I said earlier, a great idea, with even locks added for extra safety. And this was a locally originated setup, I'd bet, with no government mandate needed. One would expect Mary Anne's outfit to be on the bounce on this.

This is one more area--on a list of about forty thousand areas of human activity--where the Federal government should just keep its nose out of things. There should be no law mandating such filters. Neither should there be a law by so-called civil libertarians demanding that such filters never be installed on any machines. Let the libraries decide. That's why we elect the local officials.

Thanks for the very informative feedback, Mary Anne, as always.
