No, I am an adult on the wrong side of the 'digital divide'. In the library I use, all of the public Internet access terminals are available to all ages of user. The law says, any terminal available to chidren. My access would be as restricted as any 12 year old's.
*** Yes, if you were using a kids terminal.
btw, p - didn't you catch on that the CIPA is a legacy of Clinton? Read the articles before posting next time.)
***Huh? What does that have to do with anything?
A little cranked because folks think your position is bogus, eh?
As a library patron and supporter (by way of my taxes), I would and do object to unsupervised children - and so should librarians, whose job it most definitely is not. Libraries are not public daycare centers.
In other words - the supervision is the responsibility and the right of the parent.
***What a crock. Parents are not looking over the shoulders of their kids as they wander the kid section of a library. Nor should they have to do so for the net terminals located in the kiddie section. Jr High students are big enuf to go to the library on their own if it's nearby.
So why all the whining? Don't use the kids' terminals. The only time you're screwed is if they're the only ones available.
-p (as the ALA wastes our time & money)
