UN deployment is about the only thing that will prevent:
1)further Palestinian attacks on Israel
2)further Israeli attacks on Palestinians
The rest of the world has no patience with US tolerance of further Israeli settlements, further Israeli seizure of Palestinian lands, and above all their avoidance of need to settle this. They have no intention of allowing the US to drag them into this dispute, or of allowing current Israeli policy to trash their economies. None.
Bush Jr's attempt to repeat the Reagan strategy of appeasing Zionist voters in the US by not condemning Israel's abrogation of the Camp David Accords has failed, and failed absolutely, both here and abroad.
If Bush Jr wants to step away from this problem, then he can simply STOP blocking UN deployment.
